5 Wardrobe Staples to Buy In Your Thirties

Let’s talk about building the perfect capsule wardrobe for yourself. As I entered my 30s’ I found myself moving away from fast fashion and much more interested in spending my money on investment pieces. I realized the fast fashion pieces I was buying were being worn once or twice and then left hanging in my closet to never really be returned to. I started to slowly pull away from giving into the urge of buying that shirt just because it was $39.00.  Maybe it was the synthetic materials, the overall lack of fit after one wear or my awareness of the damage it was doing to the planet.

In the last couple of years, I started buying quality over quantity, especially when it came to staple pieces. Staple pieces are something that should be the foundation of your outfit, the thing that holds everything else together. You wouldn’t want a cheap foundation for your house, would you?

Here are 5 staple pieces that every woman should have in her closet

The Oversized Blazer

There is nothing like a well designed blazer. For me this is the key to a chic outfit and the most versatile piece in my closet. Wear it with jeans, dresses, skirts or shorts. The easiest piece to dress up for down!

The Oversized Blouse

A well tailored blouse will take you far in your wardrobe. It’s that timeless piece that the French girl wears oh so well. It looks so good with a pair of vintage Levi’s or wide leg trousers.

The Little Black Bag

I know most people say it’s all about the little black dress but trust me if you invest in a quality black bag, you will wear that so much more than a dress. Find something with a shorter strap that works for the day but also works in the evening. Quality bags never go out of style and you will have them your whole life.

The Trench Coat

A trench coat is a timeless piece that you can wear season after season. This is a piece that I find needs a bit of structure to look good and elevated, which is why investing in a quality one is important to the look.

The Leather Jacket

Once you invest in a good leather jacket, you realize how many times you go to wear it. A quality leather jacket feels so right when you put it on and only gets better with age. It’s another versatile piece that can go with jeans to dresses.
