Whenever it’s a New year I like to update my vision board or start fresh and make a brand new one! I also like to look back at what was on my previous one and see which accomplishments I’m able to cross off. I love acknowledging the things I was able to do, but I also don’t stress over the things I didn’t—there’s always the next year!
When I’m updating my vision board I find myself keeping some photos that still represent those things I’m still after. But, I do move them around on the board to give it new energy as sometimes what I’ve noticed is the placement could be an area I don’t always gravitate to. You know how they say that sometimes your eye is drawn to a specific place? Well, what I noticed is the right and left sides of the vision board get way more attention than the middle does for me. So, on that note, I usually fill the middle up with words or pictures that can only enhance what I’m envisioning.
The attention you’re putting into a board is what helps manifest those things in your life, it won’t work if you don’t believe in the power of a vision board! Being able to focus on what’s important to you during that specific time only helps bring it to you even faster. If you don’t know where you’re going or what you want you will get lost. Creating a vision board is what helps determine what you want in life and the exact things you want to bring into your space. Don’t limit yourself to your vision board, but the process is all about you, so be creative, have fun, and believe that you already have all of it! Here are some steps to creating a vision board.
What You’ll Need
- Foam or cork poster boards
- Magazines or printed photos
- Scissors
- Glue or cork pins (side note: I prefer pins because I like to move things around and they won’t ruin the board, so I can use both the pins and board the following year)
- Additional paper as needed
Get Inspired & Get Organized
Creating your vision board collage comes from magazine content from any photos that reflect your goals and desires. Go through the magazines or look through Pinterest and select the photos, text, and anything that really calls out your name.
When you’ve found the things that you want to put together, separate them into different categories that make the most sense for your quarterly check-ins throughout the year to stay on track with your goals. Some of the most common vision board categories are personal, professional, health and wellness, and “big picture” dreams and ambitions.
Manifest!
Bottom line: It’s YOUR vision board. You get out of it whatever energy and thoughts you put into it! It’s meant to resonate with you, and this is just a creative outlet for bringing your goals to life. Have fun with it!
Your vision board will help you visually see what you want to achieve. Remember to place it in a spot where you’re continually reminded of what you’re working towards. Use your boards as a personal nudge to stay on track while focusing on your dreams!
