12.16.2020 — Celeste Thomas

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Celeste Thomas, a holistic skincare expert over at The True Spoon. I’ve teamed up with Frenshe this holiday season to help spread some self-care cheer with my three DIY skincare gift ideas!

Give the Gift of Self-Care

I don’t know about you, but I’m all about giving homemade, healthy, easy, and affordable gifts! Thankfully, my DIY creations check off all of the boxes.

These gifts are perfect for anyone in your life who needs a little detox and self-love. Each one of my DIY skincare recipes (my body oil, honey clay mask, and honey body scrub) all leave your skin feeling refreshed and ready to take on the dry, winter weather.

What I love most about these gifts is that they’re not only easy and budget-friendly, but they’re fun to make. Most importantly, you can rest assured knowing that you’ve provided a sustainable gift free of toxins and full of love!

Gift #1: A Decadent Body Oil for Sensitive Skin

If you have someone in your life who has sensitive skin, then this DIY nourishing body oil is for them. Apricot seed oil is a light and hydrating oil full of vitamins A and E. Combine this with the calming aromatherapy benefits of lavender and sandalwood, and you’ve got yourself a woodsy dream come true!

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz apricot seed oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops sandalwood essential oil
  • A glass bottle

*Make sure to source all organic ingredients for this recipe to ensure quality and purity.

Directions:

Mix all ingredients into a glass bottle and tie a bow on top! It’s as simple as that. Let your loved one know to store this oil in a cool, dry place and keep it out of direct sunlight.

How to use:

  • On clean, dry skin, apply an even layer of the oil all over your body.
  • You can mix this in with your body lotion or use it on its own!

Gift Idea #2: An Exfoliating Manuka Honey Body Mask

This recipe is for anyone on your list that needs to shed off the year that is 2020!

These three simple ingredients (manuka honey, raw sugar, and apple cider vinegar) work to scrub away bacteria and dead skin cells. This body mask will leave your loved one’s skin feeling refreshed, alive, and ready to bring on the new year.

  • 5 tablespoons raw cane sugar
  • 2  tablespoons apple cider vinegar (omit for any areas of compromised skin)
  • Mason jar

*Makes 5 body masks

Add all ingredients to a mason jar and whisk together until well incorporated. Spoon into a mason jar and top with a festive bow and instructions on how to use (see below).

How to use:

  • Apply the mask to clean skin while in the shower and leave it on for 10 minutes. Gently exfoliate in circular motions using your hands and then rinse thoroughly. Follow with normal moisturizer. Repeat 1-3 items a week on your body for glowing, clear skin.
  • Store in the fridge and use within two weeks.

Gift #3: A Clarifying Manuka Honey Mask With Kaolin Clay

If you know someone with oily, acne-prone skin, then do them a favor and gift them with this wonderful face mask made with manuka honey and kaolin clay!

Kaolin clay works to extract impurities and oils from the skin while manuka honey soothes and nourishes. The two ingredients make the perfect skincare partners! Plus, the addition of rose water makes it smell heavenly.

Ingredients:

  • 5 teaspoon manuka honey
  • 5 teaspoon kaolin clay
  • 1 teaspoon rosewater
  • Mason jar

*Makes 5 masks

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to a mason jar. Whisk together until well incorporated. Spoon into  mason jar and top with a festive bow.

How to use:

  • Apply the mask to clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water and follow with normal AM or PM skincare routine. Repeat 1-3 items a week on your body for glowing, clear skin!
