This Leo Season Is Inviting You to Have More Fun

07.24.2023 — Brittany Beringer

Pause your sad-girl playlists and dry those tears, star angels — Leo season 2023 has arrived! The feisty sign reminds us of our self-worth and to believe in our hopes and desires. And with all of the major astrology moments happening, we’ll all be feeling the heat in the lion’s den — so get ready to boast and strut your assets. Leo is all about confidence, creativity, and above all else, not taking life seriously — like, at all. That said, these fun-loving vibes make it easier for us to laugh at our own mistakes (and this season, there will be plenty), and revel in all the things that give us pleasure (yes, even that secret hobby that you spend all of your free time on that you’re too self-conscious to admit to.) Whether you’re looking for an ego boost or are in search of inspiration, allow Leo season 2023 to be your muse.

Welcome To Leo Season

Leo season is between approximately July 22 to August 23, 2023. In astrology, Leo is self-assured, artsy, and unbothered by the confines of any seriousness in life. In other words, Leo is all about pleasure and fun — reminding us to take a dance break during the day, indulge in our favorite comfort snacks, and channel our inner Picasso. They’re a fixed fire sign, meaning they tend to be stubborn and hot-headed, but what they lack in impulsivity, they make up for in their creative pursuits. When Leos aren’t getting lost in their art projects, they’re racking up party invites and outshining everyone there.

If Leo doesn’t get their way, they’ll find a way to steal the show. And that’s totally understandable, given that they’re ruled by the sun, meaning they absorb all the attention and give life to every room they walk in (did I mention they’re the ultimate drama queens, too?). The fierce sign has a way of stroking our ego, making Leo season equipped with long, loving glances in the mirror and a significant boost to our self-confidence.

Seasonal Forecast

Leo season kicks off as dramatic as you might imagine, with Venus going retrograde in the lion’s territory on July 23. This is a major moment for reviewing our relationships and acknowledging the patterns and cycles that keep us from moving forward with our partners. With it taking place in Leo, we should be on the lookout for skewed power dynamics and issues of self-esteem. Are you feeling insecure in your relationship? Maybe you feel like there’s not enough romance lately. Venus retrograde summons these kinds of obstacles so that you can move past them.

What’s more, Chiron — aka, the comet that reflects our deep wounds — also goes retrograde in Leo on July 23, bringing up our biggest insecurities and forcing us to reevaluate our sense of self-worth. Sound intense? It’s all in the process of molding you into a more intentional and confident version of yourself. Once Mercury, the planet of communication, meets up with Virgo on July 28, it gives us a chance to organize these major revelations of ourselves and design a system to help us evolve. This is also a great time to plan, plant seeds, and rearrange our lives so that it better aligns with our health and wellness goals (did someone say hot yoga?).

Leo season’s first major lunation on August 1 is the full moon in Aquarius. This lunar moment allows us to connect with our community, lean on our friendships, and give back to our society in ways that feel impactful to us. That could look like volunteering, donating to mutual aid, or giving your unwanted items to charity. The new moon in Leo, on the other hand, arrives on Aug. 16, refreshing our moods and sparking our deepest desires. From starting on a new painting to pursuing a new romantic relationship, this sensual new moon is your green light to revel in all of the things that bring you pleasure without judgment (I mean, who needs that, anyway?).
