Here at Frenshe, we’re always keeping up with the latest and greatest in beauty, health, and wellness. We’re sure you’ve heard about adaptogens and the buzz surrounding them isn’t slowing down any time soon. If you’re curious to learn more about what adaptogens do, their benefits, and how to add them into your daily routine, you’ll want to keep reading. We spoke to Trinity Mouzon Wofford, founder of Golde, about all things adaptogens and the brand’s best-selling Shroom Shield blend.
Adaptogens 101
“Adaptogens are naturally occurring plants and fungi (think herbs and mushrooms!) that “adapt” to our body’s needs, helping to regulate stress and hormones,” says Trinity. “They’ve been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines for centuries.” As for how they actually work, they help support us by interacting with the systems in our bodies that respond to stress. ” In the presence of a stressor, adaptogens can help adjust hormone production and physiological stress responses to help all our bodily systems stay balanced,” she says. As for side effects, there aren’t many. “They’re mostly harmless, but it’s important to consult with your doctor as they can interact with some prescription medications,” she explains.
The Benefits
“Since adaptogens help regulate our hormones and our body’s stress response, adding them into our routines can help us feel more balanced, less stressed, and achieve an overall state of homeostasis,” Trinity explains. “It’s important to keep them in your routine consistently to feel the benefits!”
How to Use Adaptogens
The good news is, there are plenty of different ways you can incorporate adaptogens into your daily routine. Think capsules, powders, and tinctures to name a few. “My personal favorite way to fit adaptogens into my day (and morning latte) is with our Shroom Shield blend, which contains adaptogenic reishi and turkey tail mushrooms,” says Trinity. “A lot of adaptogen products aren’t the tastiest, so I love to be able to get the benefits of these mushrooms with a super yummy cacao flavor!”
