Breakfast Foods to Help Improve Focus

03.15.2021 — The Frenshe Editors

A good, healthy breakfast is fundamental to starting the day right. Breakfast can jumpstart our metabolism, boost our energy, and improve focus. Sometimes getting the day started can feel like a drag, especially if you’re not a morning person. To add to that, we are amid a pandemic where our bodies and minds are constantly overwhelmed and uncertain during these unprecedented times. Our health may be suffering due to this, which in turn affects our rest, appetite, and productivity. Let’s start our day on track with some brain-boosting foods.

Here are some breakfast recipes you can easily create to support focus, help you tackle the day, and feel your best!

Eggs

A breakfast staple that is essential to health benefits. It’s one of the most functional foods, so you can make it any way you like and never grow tired of it. It holds six grams of protein and so much flavor and color can be added to eggs such as dairy, veggies, and meats to incorporate more nutrition. Here is a simple and filling veggie scramble recipe. You can modify how you like, and of course, add meat if you’d prefer.

Smoothies

If you need an on-the-go approach to your breakfast needs or are not in the mood to cook (some days we just simply don’t!), smoothies are a great option to get your day started on the right foot. Smoothies are a versatile meal, and an easy way to pack in nutrients, protein, and probiotics. A smoothie that supports focus should include leafy greens such as kale or spinach. If lots of greens aren’t necessarily your preference, load them up in a smoothie, add your favorite tasting fruits, and you’ve implemented them into your daily diet. See, already thinking ahead.

This blueberry and spinach smoothie is a great blend of fruits and greens. Plus blueberries are filled with antioxidants so you’ll feel amazing and refreshed in the morning.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal may seem plain and boring at its base, but its ability to be adaptable is what makes this simple breakfast delicious and nutritious. Add fresh fruit, nuts, granola, peanut butter, chia seeds, and spices to give you the energy you need for the day. The options are endless.

Salmon

A protein source linked to brain boost is fish. Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which associates with focus, brain health, and enhancing memory. Salmon pairs great with eggs and greens so it can be the triple threat focus breakfast. If you want an energizing breakfast that feels like you’re out on brunch with your gals, here’s a delicious salmon breakfast sandwich recipe.

Avocado

A diet high in fruits like avocados can enhance blood flow, offering a delicious way to jumpstart our brains and energy. Avocados even cut the risk of heart disease because although they consist of fat, it’s monounsaturated fat, which aids in healthy blood flow. A fat that’s healthy for you? Say no more.

We all love avocado toast, but if you’re looking for a different take with avocado, here’s a fun and flavorful breakfast quesadilla you can whip up.
