Here at Frenshe, we’re always on the hunt for healthy recipes, especially when it comes to snacks. Every now and then we come across one ingredient that people won’t stop talking about, and we’d say that for the past year, chickpeas have really had their moment. Ahead, we’re sharing some of our favorite chickpea-based snacks—snacks included!
Vegan Whipped Matcha Latte
Our friend and Blogilates founder, Cassey Ho, shared a unique spin on traditional matcha lattes. “I’m just not a coffee girl! Since I didn’t want to totally miss out on the whipped latte craze, I was determined to find a way to make an alternative,” she wrote. The kicker here is that the latte has garbanzo (aka chickpea) liquid as a base.
- 1 can garbanzo bean liquid
- 1 tsp matcha
- 2-3 packets sweetener
- 2 Tbsp hot water
- Ice
- Almond milk

Yes, you read that right, chickpea ice cream is a thing and it’s delicious. Danielle Keith of Healthy Girl Kitchen shared a vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and oil-free recipe for a decadent scoop of nut butter-based ice cream. It’s a great source of protein and fiber while enjoying a sweet dessert!

Vegan “Tuna” Salad
Another friend of Frenshe’s, Lauren Ferree, shared a delicious chickpea-based spin on traditional tuna salad. Lauren’s the queen of sustainability and she composts the skin of her onions, used leftover veggies, and toppings she already had at home. The recipe is zesty, tastes just like the real thing, and requires zero fish.
- 1 red onion
- 1 cup carrots
- 1 cup celery
- One can of drained chickpeas
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 tbsp vegan mayonaisse

Chickpea Nuggets
Vegan TikTok account, Planted, always offers up delicious alternatives to popular foods. This chickpea nugget recipe caught our eyes, mainly because they looked crispy and just like real nuggets! The most interesting part, however, is that they’re covered in Cornflakes rather than breadcrumbs.
- 1 can of drained chickpeas
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp paprika
- Pinch of salt and pepper
- 1 cup plant-based milk
- 1 cup Cornflakes

Chickpea Cookies
Of course, we had to throw some more sweets on the list. We came across this chickpea cookie recipe on TikTok and they look so sweet, chewy, and all-around delicious. They don’t require a ton of ingredients and are high in fiber while being low on sugar.
- 1 can of drained chickpeas
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp nut butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- A splash of oat milk
- Dark chocolate chips
