Danielle Bernstein, the creative mind behind WeWoreWhat, is known for blending fashion-girl vibes with serious business savvy. What started as a street-style blog has grown into a full-blown empire. This year, Danielle leveled up yet again with a see-now, buy-now presentation at New York Fashion Week. Now she’s venturing into beauty with the launch of WeWoreWhat 001, a creamy woody gourmand scent with notes of fig, sandalwood, coconut water, and cedarwood. Here, she shares a glimpse into her well-being rituals—including the 80/20 rule that helps her feel her best.
What is the first thing you do in the morning?
The first thing I do when I wake up is check my phone and make myself coffee! If I don’t have a morning workout scheduled, I’ll start getting ready and hop on Zoom to start my work day.
How has your upbringing and environment shaped your understanding of wellness and/or mental health?
I’ve really prioritized my home being a place that brings me peace, which of course helps with mental health. I have such a crazy work day that I love to be in a calming environment. I’ve incorporated things like breathwork, meditation, working out, and speaking to a life coach—all to help with my overall wellness and mental health.
What makes you feel your best?
What makes me feel my best is getting up, getting ready, fully dressed and just being put together for the day. I rarely ever stay in PJs or sweats all day long.
What has been the hardest part of your wellness journey—and how do you deal with it?
The hardest part of my wellness journey may be generally slowing down. I have a hard time turning my brain off from work and thinking of things that can be done or designed, etc. Instead of ‘dealing with it’ I’ve kind of accepted it and tried to be more present and taking time to really relax.
What is something you would like to see more of in the wellness world?
I’d love to see more gluten free & dairy free alternatives that are actually healthier, too!
What is a must-have step or product in your routine?
Spraying my WWW01 perfume!
How do you define ‘healthy’?
I try to keep to a 80/20 lifestyle to be my version of ‘healthy’, meaning: eating well and drinking tons of water, working out, etc 80% of the time, while letting myself still have fun and more freedom 20% of the time.
What is something you look forward to every day?
I look forward to working every day. I love what I do and that’s a beautiful thing.
How do you reset yourself after a difficult moment?
After a difficult moment, I try to take a deep breath and pause before reacting. I can be somewhat reactive, so the pause is helpful.
What is a ritual that brings you joy?
Morning walks with my dog are something that I love doing to clear my mind before the day starts.
What is the last thing you do at night?
The last thing I do at night is spend time with my boyfriend and cuddle before bed.
