Q&A: Ada Nei
What is breathwork?
To me, breathwork is conscious breathing that can help with stress reduction, relaxation, and improve mental and physical well being. It is a practice to connect with our body and an opportunity to give thanks to the gift of a breath, the foundation of everything. It is also a gateway to tap into your inner wisdom
How does breathwork differ from meditation?
Breathwork is a form of meditation focused on a specific breathing pattern. There are many styles of breathwork that offer various benefits, from grounding and soothing, to cleansing and energizing.
What drew you to breathwork and what does it bring to your life?
I love how accessible breathwork is. All you need is your breath. No other tools are required. It sounds corny, but breathwork brought me home to my true self. For decades I went through a health crisis that affected all aspects of my life. Practicing breathwork is a quick and effective way to clear my mind, release what is not serving me, increase self love, and find more ease.
For someone who is new to breathwork, what’s a good way to start?
Keep it simple and easy. Gift yourself a few minutes to pause, be present with your body and just breathe. No special technique, just breathe in your own natural rhythm. Observe how you’re feeling. Complete by giving thanks to making time for yourself.
What makes you feel present and grounded?
Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.
